Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) can be disposed in several ways, including:
- Flaring (see beside)
- Incineration
- Injection into the formation by compression
- Injection into a water disposal well dissolved
in the water
- Recovery as elemental Sulphur (see Sulphur Recovery)
Environmental requirements and overall system components will
determine the appropriate method.

Benzene,
Toluene and Xylene (BTEX) and other hydrocarbons are best eliminated
by incineration. The vapours from the still column of the Glycol Reboiler
(see picture beside) are incinerated in the Incinerator mounted on the
end of the skid. H2S emissions from the Reboiler of a sour Glycol Dehydrator
can also be incinerated this way.
